As a result of the crash Tarek and Christina El Moussa nearly lost the entirety of their wealth. The couple went from a $6,000 monthly home to a $750/month rental. The economy and their business overall slowly regenerated. HGTV and Rise to Fame In 2011 Tarek requested a colleague to help him make the HGTV audition tape that showed the two of them Christina turning a house the beginning to the end. Pie Town Productions, a production company based located in New York City was the first to receive the tape. They fell in love Tarek as well as Christina. The couple officially signed a HGTV contract in the year the year 2012. Flip of Flop was launched in April of 2013. Between 2013 and 2017, 92 episodes were aired over seven seasons. Christina and Tarek were shown buying houses typically in Orange County. After spending several weeks on upgrades and renovations, they'd sell them to make profits.
